The NYSVMS took the lead role in opposing a bill in 2013 that would have protected ducks from being inhumanely force fed to enlarge their livers for foie gras.

The NYSVMS is having their 2nd annual tasting and tour of the Hudson Valley Foie Gras Farm on April 28, 2016.

City the Kitty

They are the same veterinary association in NY that is trying to kill our bill to ban the inhumane procedure of declawing.

Here is a video from Hudson Valley Foie Gras Farm and also a Petition to sign to end the sale of their Foie Gras Graphic video of how foie gras is made

The veterinary associations don’t want animals to be anything other than property. They don’t want laws like the foie gras bill or the declawing bill to be passed to protect ducks or cats. They don’t want laws that give them better welfare.

How can these NYSVMS veterinary professionals get pleasure out of going to a place that does this inhumane thing to ducks? Everyone knows that these ducks go through a terribly cruel process to get their livers large, fatty and diseased.  [button href=”http://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-0128-friedrich-foie-gras-california-20150127-story.html” color=”red” newwindow=”yes”] LATimes Story About Foie Gras[/button]

This is their 2nd annual Foie Gras event organized by their treasurer, Lawrence Bartholf, who by the way is paid to give these tours at this farm. He was also the past President of the NYSVMS.  Mr Bartholf says this about this extreme animal cruelty, ” If the ducks were human that would be a concern. Ducks in the world are under more stress than these guys.”

And the NYSVMS uses the words, “where they raise and process Moulard ducks.” What a way to make this inhumane torturing of ducks out to be such a nice sounding situation. Just like many of the pro-declaw veterinarians do when they call it declawing instead of amputations and a very painful, disabling, and cruel procedure.

And in 2013 the NYSVMS was proud to tell their vet members in their newsletter that they were leaders in killing a bill that would have banned this inhumane torture on ducks.

The NYSVMS treasurer, Lawrence W. Bartholf was also employed by this Hudson Valley Foie Gras Farm and has been a spokesman for them for many years.

If you aren’t aware what they have to do to get a duck liver this fatty and diseased to get this size,

Remember, these animals suffer immensely just to have their livers enlarged. The ducks are ready for slaughter when the worker feels food stuck in their neck. After two days if the food is still there they are sent to slaughter, meaning the ducks are so stuffed, they can’t force any more food into them.

It would be like the pulmonary oncologists association getting together for a fun  day and bringing their guests to go to a cigarette company and trying out the cigarettes and saying it’s ok to smoke.

It would be like a gynecologists association having an enjoyable vacation by going to Africa to watch women’s genital mutilation.

Please help me understand how out of touch with reality does one have to be to think that force feeding ducks to enlarge their livers is an acceptable and enjoyable thing?

These are people in the veterinary profession who are supposed to be advocates for all animals yet they want to be able to keep amputating cat’s toes and claws and they enjoy going to places like this that do this inhumane thing to ducks.

This video is very painful to watch but shows you the facts [button href=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4dhcMhj9p8″ color=”green” newwindow=”yes”] Animal Legal Defense Fund Foie Gras Video[/button]

And don’t believe the propaganda and lies like this that they say to make you think that this force feeding of ducks is ok. [button href=”http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ingrid-newkirk/5-big-fat-lies-about-fatt_b_6482104.html” color=”red” newwindow=”yes”] HuffPost 5 Big Fat Lies About Foie Gras[/button] Just like many pro-declaw veterinarians do, they like to try to deceive you and say that declawing isn’t bad for a cat.

More than a dozen countries have prohibited foie gras production because it is inhumane.  Dozens of countries have prohibited and banned declawing because it is inhumane.
